Baroque cello

RÉMI KESTEMAN was born in Brussels, in the winter of 1988. Being the child of musicians, he soon found his way in the musical universe through the perspective of the baritone element of the stringed instrument's family: the cello.

At the age of 6 he enters the music academy, under the wise tutelage of a great cello player by the name of Jaroslav Mikus, who would guide him through his studies for 12 years.

At the age of 18, freshly graduated in classical music studies, he decides to explore other musical environments. That's when he discovers jazz, rock’n’roll, blues, folk, traditional portuguese and world music.

Upon reaching 24, though, after having acquired a lot of experience as a performer, Remi decides to further deepen his studies. His contact with the italian cellist Marco Ceccato, shows him the world of early music.

This causes him to find a new motivation in music, and in 2012, almost 7 years after graduating from the music academy, he enters the early music course at the Superior School of Music and Performing Arts of Porto (ESMAE).
